Biography of Steve Irwin
Born in Victoria, Australia, Stephen Robert Irwin grew up surrounded by wildlife at the small reptile park his parents managed. With boundless energy and an infectious “Crikey!”, Steve turned that park into Australia Zoo and became the world’s most beloved wildlife educator as “The Crocodile Hunter.” Fearless yet deeply respectful, he showed millions that even the most misunderstood creatures deserve protection. Alongside his wife Terri and children Bindi and Robert, he championed conservation across the globe. While filming on the Great Barrier Reef, Steve passed on September 4, 2006, doing what he loved most. His joyful spirit and urgent message—“We don’t own planet Earth, we belong to it”—continue to inspire new generations to care for wildlife and wild places.
